The Look

Making candles is an artistic science. There are many variables which effect the candle making process including wax temperature, pouring speed, pouring temperature, container temperature, room temperature during the curing phase, colour and fragrance blend.

In addition to this we use a 100% natural soy wax and unlike some candle makers we do not use additives that can improve the look of the wax and ability to stick to the glass.

As a conseqeuence some of our candles may appear inconsistent from an aesthetic sense. They may have what appears to be wet spots which is simply areas in the wax that has not completely stuck to the glass - this does not hinder the burning process nor the fragrances effect. We hope you can overlook these inconsistencies in light of a hand poured candle that has no magic additives to improve the look. These additives can hinder the burning process and reduce the scent throw of the candle. We would much rather you have a candle that burns well and smells the best it can.

General

  • Never leave a burning candle unattended – obvious but easy to forget.
  • Keep the candle out of the reach of children and pets.
  • Place your candle on a stable heat resistant surface.
  • Avoid having your candle placed in or near a draft.
  • The container may become hot – be careful in handling it.
  • At the end of combustion a variable amount of wax may remain.
  • Always store the candle in a cool/dry place below 25C and away from direct sunlight

Burning Times

Our burning times are approximate burning times only. Although we have tested these times we do not guarantee the exact burn time. Influencing factors include temperature, the location of the candle (drafts), the length of time you burn your candle on each use and the time in between each use.

Container Candles

  • The wick must be trimmed regularly.
  • Burn for more than 2-3 hours at a time.
  • Frosted jars are more sensitive to marking and can gather soot easily if the wick is not trimmed often enough or the candle is burned in a draught.
  • Carbon marks should be wiped off as they occur with a clean, damp cloth.
  • Containers should always be placed on a sturdy heat resistant surface.
  • During the warmer months, stored in an even upright position as a hot day may melt the wax and the container will re-solidify in an uneven position.

100% Essential Oil Range

Pregnancy is a special time to care for you and your baby. You should be aware of the following points when using products that contain essential oils, especially during pregnancy.

  • Consult a qualified medical practitioner before using essential oils if you are planning a pregnancy, are pregnant, have allergies, high blood pressure or any other medical condition.
  • Use caution when using essential oils when young children or babies are present.
  • Use essential oils only as directed and never directly on your skin or for internal consumption.
  • Ensure protection of your essential oils by keeping them away from direct sunlight and heat.
  • Keep essential oils away from eyes at all times.
  • The diverse range of essential oil varieties and applications makes it difficult for us to give advice to individuals. Advice should be sought from a qualified medicalpractitioner.

Melts

  • Ensure the oil burner dish is dry and clean.
  • Light a tealight candle and place it underneath the dish where the wax melt will be placed.
  • Do not light the melt directly. It is not a candle. It has no wick
  • Once the tealight is extinguished the melt will harden.
  • Do not add water or oils to the dish when using a melt.
  • There is no danger in the dish burning dry when using melts as the wax does not evaporate.
  • When replacing melts - If the melt does not slide easily out of the dish, wait till it has gone completely cold, then place the burner in the fridge for a few minutes till the wax shrinks a little. You can then slide the wax disc out easier.
  • Always check your oil burner for any cracks before use.
